Some links on The Protein Index are affiliate links. This page explains exactly what that means, how to spot them, and the rules that keep commissions away from the data.
What an affiliate link is
When you click certain outbound links and then buy something, the brand or its affiliate network may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra. This is a material connection under FTC guidance, and this page is our standing disclosure of it; pages that carry affiliate links also disclose it in place, above the first such link.
How to spot one
Affiliate links on this site route through our own redirect prefix, /go/, and carry rel="sponsored" in the markup. If a link doesn’t do those things, it isn’t an affiliate link. Buy-side buttons (“Check price” and similar) are affiliate links wherever a program exists for that brand.
The rules
- Commissions never affect a record’s contents, its verification stamp, or the order of any ranked list. Ranking order cannot be bought.
- Featured placements are paid, are labeled as such, and never appear inside ranked lists.
- No brand can pay to create, edit, or remove a product record. Indexing is free and cannot be bought.
- Whether a brand has an affiliate program has no bearing on how its products are described. Records for brands that pay us nothing follow the identical format and rules.
- Any price shown was read from the brand’s own site on the date stated with it; we don’t display live prices.
The verification system these rules protect is documented on How we verify. Questions about any of it? Ask.
