The Protein Index is an independent reference for protein products, built for people who have to read the label, because of an allergy, a diet, a diagnosis, or a drug test.
Why this exists
Made by the father of competitive athletes, after one of them reacted to an undeclared allergen at an international event. It’s maintained to the verification standard that high-level sport demands. Nothing here is inferred. If the label has a line for it, we quote it. If it doesn’t, we say “not listed”. We believe nobody should find out what a product contains the hard way.
So this site applies the verification discipline elite sport demands to the questions every restricted buyer asks: what’s actually in it, who tested it, and when was that last true. The athlete standard is the method; the label-readers are the audience.
What it is, and isn’t
The Index is a described record of what manufacturer labels and public testing registries say, with a date on every fact and a stamp on every record. It is not a certifier, and it is not medical advice. Nothing here replaces the label on the product in your hand or the advice of your clinician. How records are built, what the stamps mean, and what we refuse to claim are all documented on How we verify.
Who runs it
The Protein Index is written and operated by Ryan Davis and is a Ryan Davis, LLC publication. No protein brand owns any part of it. Every brand is reviewed under the same rules, including any brand we have a commercial relationship with, and those relationships are disclosed where they exist. The site earns money from clearly marked affiliate links, labeled placements, and advertising; the mechanics that keep revenue away from the data are published in the affiliate disclosure and on the methodology page.
